Mobile web hype

~ 08 November 2006 ~

Brian Fling’s recap of the Mobile 2.0 Conference nearly confirms everything I’ve been preaching about the mobile web the last 18+ months and makes me want to finish the book that much faster.

On a related note, check out Gmail’s new mobile app (gmail.com/app), which, unlike the fully browser-based m.gmail.com, loads software on your phone and then relies on Gmail’s servers for processing activities. This is known as a “thin client” or “smart client”, depending on whom you talk to.

On a completely unrelated note, I’m in the process of updating the blog software that powers this site, and therefore things are being updated statically for now. More about that later. Job listings, however, still continue to pull in fresh in the sidebar.
